Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the specified duration, is required. You will also need to present valid identification, proof of your current address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in your Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Huntingdon office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same state as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when picked up; refueling charges will be applied if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, and other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance options may be offered to minimize your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting, unauthorized drivers, and operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed. Additionally, do not exceed passenger or weight limits, or drive outside the specified geographical area without prior permission.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Huntingdon is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not surpass the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in England and Wales.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
